Indian Country ECHO

Issue:
Indian Country ECHO, part of the Northwest Portland Indian Health Board, connects healthcare providers across the U.S., offering resources, webinars, and discussions to improve health outcomes within Indigenous communities. Their previous WordPress-based site was functional but required too much time from ECHO site admins. Their leader pushed for many ways WP could be automated to allow end users themselves to create and publish new Events, Case Studies, Profiles, and other content freeing up ECHO staff time.
Description:
Site forms, posting, events, and other content were all knitted together into simple structures that allowed a one-stop-visit by users. The site’s user-centered design organizes complex information into accessible paths, fostering collaboration among 800+ members and 135 experts across 42 program areas. It supports a robust library of resources, events, and case studies, empowering a growing network dedicated to addressing pressing health issues. The site has grown greatly in size from a few dozen members at first to hundreds now. Furthermore, the organization is encouraging others to use the model elsewhere.
